HAVAS INTERMEDIATION

IP Praha, a branch of HAVAS INTERMEDIATION in the Czech Republic, continues its collaboration with Czech public television as sales house for its two channels CT1 and CT2.

An exclusive contract will start on January 1st 1997 for a period of 4 years. This follows a previous collaboration which began in 1991. At the time, IP owned 50% of the joint venture created with Czechoslovakian television (CST).
In 1992, following the country's break-up, IP Praha, 100% owned by IP, continues its collaboration with new Czech television (CT) on the basis of a contract valid until December 31 1996.

The renewed collaboration between IP Praha and CT testifies to IP's effectiveness as a media sales house in the pioneering years of Czech television advertising.

Indeed, the effects of the arrival of the competing channel Nova TV have been overcome successfully , and CT not only maintained its audience share in 1995 but even increased it in 1996, due in particular to the clear improvement of its programming schedule. In this context, advertising revenue generated by IP Praha for Czech public television rose by about 45% from 1995 to 1996, representing a significant increase of IP Praha's TV market share.

In terms of quality, IP Praha's professionalism was also supported by the use of tools developed by IP in Western Europe. For instance, IP Praha now uses an on-line connection system linking it to all agencies and media buyers, which allows it to gain real-time access to data on audiences, rates, programmes and plannings. The capacities of this system will soon be extended to on-line consultation and booking of slots.

Together with Hungary, the Czech Republic is the second group company in Central Europe to benefit from technological know-how that will become available in the coming years to all IP branches in Central and Eastern Europe.

Finally, IP Network, Havas Intermediation's international media representation network, continues to be the exclusive worldwide representative of CT media outside the Czech Republic.
